HeightsArts Gallery is a project of HeightsArts, a nonprofit community arts organization founded in 2000. The gallery mission is to:
- Present significant art to the community
- Emphasize regional artists, with special attention to Heights artists
- Collaborate and foster collaboration among area artists and institutions
- Advance the arts and artists
- Stimulate wider art appreciation
In September, 2005, founding gallery director William Busta stepped down to join the Cleveland Artists Foundation as Curator of Collections and Exhibitions. Building on the strong foundation he helped establish, Heights Arts has convened a gallery committee of artists, educators, and arts professionals. The committee guides the annual program and taps into our rich community resources by inviting guest curators to create exhibitions at Heights Arts.
The gallery presents six exhibitions a year. Two are annual events— From the Heights: A Holiday Store (limited to Cleveland Heights and University Heights residents) and Collector's Choice (open to all artists)—both selected by the Gallery Committee. For the remaining four slots, the Gallery Committee invites guest curators to create exhibitions. Unsolicited proposals that support the gallery mission are welcome. Gallery specifications provided on request. One-person shows are rare, but individual artists may apply to be considered as part of an occasional group exhibition organized by Heights Arts.
To submit a proposal, please send an application form (artist application, curator proposal) plus images (preferably digital on a CD that we may keep) to HeightsArts, 2163 Lee Road #104 , Cleveland Heights , Ohio 44118 .
