Jim Whitney, Whitney Stained Glass
Jim Whitney While in college, Jim Whitney worked in an antique store, refinishing and repairing old furniture. One piece he worked on contained damaged stained glass. Knowing nothing about such glass, Jim researched the subject and repaired the piece, and thus developed a life-long interest in stained glass that became both his passion and his profession. Jim worked for Doug Phillips Stained Glass Studio for nine years. In 1985 he stepped out on his own and founded Whitney Stained Glass. Among his professional accomplishments, Jim restored all the windows in First Church, Church of the Covenant, and Trinity Cathedral. His final work was restoring the Tiffany window in Old Stone Church. Other examples of his work are found throughout Northeast Ohio and across the country.

Jim died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family and friends, on October 19, 2005. His smile will live on in our hearts forever.

The family prefers that those who wish may make contributions in his name to the JIM WHITNEY MEMORIAL STAINED GLASS WINDOW FUND at First United Methodist Church, 3000 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44115.

Memorial Services will be held First United Methodist Church Sunday, October 30th at 2PM.
