The 2007 Poet Laureate Committee was comprised of Bunny Breslin, Kelly Harris, 2005 Poet Laureate Meredith Holmes, John Panza, Carole Wallencheck, and 2006 Poet Laureate Loren Weiss.

Cleveland Heights City Council appointed Mary Weems as the 2007 Poet Laureate. Mary Weems is a seasoned poet, performer, and educator. She respects the value of poetry as a fundamental art form, and brings copious experience as a public speaker and a deep appreciation of the role of the poet in the community to her tenure as Poet Laureate.
