Coventry Village Chair-ity Auction

The Coventry Village Special Improvement District (SID) is issuing a call for artists for their upcoming Chair-ity auction to benefit public art projects in the Coventry Village neighborhood of Cleveland Heights, Ohio.

What:
Rescue and re-imagine old (wooden, plastic, or metal) chairs, benches and stools with a fresh, unique, and artistic design to benefit future public art projects in Coventry Village! 60% of the proceeds from each contributed piece in the Chair-ity auction will benefit the Coventry Village SID Public Arts Fund. 40% of the proceeds will awarded to the contributing artist.

When:
The chairs will be on display at a special opening reception at Heights Arts on Friday, August 26, and will be displayed and auctioned to the highest bidder in the Coventry Village Special Improvement District on Saturday, August 27. Artists must submit their intent to participate via the online form below by May 31.

Why:
The Coventry Village SID Public Arts Fund assists in providing resources to create dynamic public art in the Coventry Village Special Improvement District.

About:
The Coventry Village Special Improvement District exists to enrich the quality of life for residents and neighbors, celebrate the community’s creative artistic talents, attract visitors, and create economic benefits for the Coventry Village merchants.

The Coventry Village SID is one-quarter mile of retail and residential use. It boasts over 40 independently owned businesses that provide a wide variety of restaurant, retail, nightlife / entertainment and services.  The community served is a wide range of demographics that include a mix of families, students of the nearby universities (Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Institute of Art, Cleveland Institute of Music), young adults residing in the neighborhood and tourists and visitors who support the Coventry Village businesses. Our community is racially, ethnically and financially diverse. We strive to create arts programming and cultural events that serve the demographic while showcasing local artists and organizations.
