Master Class in Cello

Nick Diodore master classEsteemed Northeast Ohio cellist Nicholas Diodore will lead a master class performance in cello in the Heights Arts gallery. Master classes are free and open to the public for observation. Each features students who perform with excellence within various levels, and have been recommended by their teachers.

Northeast Ohio students in grades 6-12 are welcome to apply for all master class sessions; applicants must be recommended by their music teacher  in addition to the online form below for consideration.

Participating students and one parent (if student is under 18) also receive complimentary tickets to one of Heights Arts’ 2016-2017 Close Encounters chamber music concerts, featuring members of the Cleveland Orchestra (a $55 min. value).

ABOUT NICHOLAS DIODORE

Nick Diodore was born in Marion, Indiana to a musical family and quickly established a reputation as a very talented cellist. He received his early musical instruction from Geoffrey Lapin of the Indianapolis Symphony. Mr. Diodore attended high school at Interlochen Arts Academy where he was a student of Crispin Campbell. He excelled in the study of 20th century compositions as well as in chamber music and was a prize winner at the Fischoff International Chamber Music Competition and the Grand Prize winner of the Downbeat Magazine Chamber Music Competition.

In 1996, Mr. Diodore attended the Cleveland Institute of Music where he was a student of Alan Harris, Merry Peckham and Richard Weiss. During his studies, Nick participated in the Aspen Music Festival and the Yellow Barn Chamber Music Festival. He also performed at the Cayman Islands Music Festival.

Currently Mr. Diodore holds a faculty position at the Aurora School of Music and teaches privately at Laurel School and Hudson Montessori School. He performs regularly as a member of the No Exit New Music Ensemble, Pizzicato 4 (a cello quartet) and Dadband. He also serves on the board of directors of the Cleveland Cello Society.
