SPOTLIGHT: Kate Snow

March 17 – April 30, 2017

Spotlight: Kate SnowHowever we define them, communities group us, ground us, and provide us with a sense of security and identity. Kate Snow’s exhibition in the spotlight gallery, Grid Series: Communities, seeks to explore and celebrate not only the physical community that makes up Cleveland Heights, but also the seemingly disparate communities of fine art and digital media by providing a platform for engagement and interaction.

Grid Series: Communities includes a collection of framed gouache and graphite paintings on handmade paper, as well as an integrated digital piece.  Viewers will have the opportunity to become “makers” as they digitally change the painting on the installed gallery screen (re-ordering the dots, changing colors, etc.).

Join us for an opening reception, meet the artist, and create your own community on Friday, March 17, 6-9 p.m.

Blurring the Line: Defining Art in the Digital Age, a short panel discussion with community q&a will be held in the gallery on Thursday, April 6 at 7 p.m. Panelists Kate Snow, Artist, Eagan Rackley, Game Developer, Ian Faleer, Musician, and Stephanie Frankiewicz, Artist and Graphic Designer, will examine how the digital medium is transforming the way viewers experience art and whether the gap between the fine art and digital communities is closing. Attendees will have the opportunity to join the discussion and interact with examples of digital art.

Working Artist Membership programs are generously supported by the Cyrus Eaton Foundation.
