ARTIST OF THE MONTH JULY 2021- MUSIC: MACKENZIE BRAUNS

Bassoonist Mackenzie Brauns is an active performer throughout the Midwest and beyond. Mackenzie is Principal Bassoon of the Firelands Symphony Orchestra, Mansfield Symphony Orchestra, Youngstown Symphony Orchestra and the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic. Mackenzie has also performed with the Canton Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, New World Symphony, West Virginia Symphony, Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra, Richmond Symphony Orchestra (Indiana) and many others.

A founding member of Cleveland Wind Trio, Mackenzie is an avid chamber musician. Since its inaugural performance at the Holden Arboretum Sounds of Summer concert  series in August of 2018, the Cleveland Wind Trio has rapidly expanded its performance calendar, including additional recitals at the Cleveland Botanical Garden’s Classical September, Stars in the Classics, Olmsted Community Church Inspired Concert Series, Firelands Symphony Lakeside Chautauqua, the Cleveland Institute of Music and Cleveland Metroparks’ Look About Lodge Fireside Concert Series.

Cleveland Wind Trio is also dedicated to outreach performances across the Cleveland area, performing in numerous schools, libraries, retirement communities and public spaces in conjunction with Piano Cleveland ArtsConnect and the Cleveland Institute of Music Center for Innovative Musicianship. Consisting also of Adrian Gonzalez, oboe, and
Tiberiu Baicoianu, clarinet, Cleveland Wind Trio continuously looks to provide new and engaging chamber music experiences using an uncommon form: the reed trio. In 2020, Cleveland Wind Trio made their professional chamber festival debut at the National Music Festival Resonance Concert Series in Chestertown, Maryland.

Cleveland Wind Trio looks forward to upcoming performances as part of Heights Arts: Random Acts of Art, Holden
Arboretum and the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic chamber series. Mackenzie has also performed as a soloist with the CCM Philharmonia Orchestra in 2015, as well as won prizes in the 2013 Cincinnati Three Arts Scholarship Competition and the 2011 Arapahoe Philharmonic Concerto Competition.

Mackenzie received her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) under the instruction of William Winstead, and an Artist Diploma at the Cleveland Institute of Music as a student of Barrick Stees. Mackenzie has also attended the Aspen Music Festival, National Repertory Orchestra, Round Top Music Festival, Colorado College Music Festival, Sarasota Music Festival, Kent/Blossom Music Festival,
Festival Napa Valley and the National Orchestral Institute.
