July Visual Artist of the Month — Cass Penegor
Cass Penegor (They/Them) is a nonbinary artist and educator currently based in Lakewood, Ohio. They received their BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art and their MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art. Their work has been featured in various online exhibitions, and they have shown work in galleries across Northeast Ohio and Michigan. Outside of the studio and classroom, Penegor can be found at a local coffee shop, looking for cool rocks, or in rehearsal as a Stage Manager for Cleveland community theater.
Cass Penegor was featured in the ROYGBIV Pride Palette Exhibition: Celebrating Diversity Through Color at Patina Arts Centre in Canton, Ohio. Additionally, they have a poem in Light Enters the Grove: Exploring Cuyahoga Valley National Park Through Poetry, available for pre-order now. Recently, Penegor was the stage-manager for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at Cain Park in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. They also participated in the Night at the Museum Art Show: Artists Who Teach at the Akron Art Museum, which “was exciting as someone who was writing and teaching STEM programs at the Great Lakes Science Center. Now, however, I am pursuing my Alternative Resident Educator license to become an art teacher, and I will be working at E Prep Willard this fall as a full time art teacher for 5-8.”
