For the month of March 2021, our visual Artist of the Month is Cynde Hujarski.
“I am a Cleveland, Ohio area artist and received an Associate’s Degree in Interior Design and Business from Cuyahoga Community College. I worked for ten years in commercial and residential spaces before making a move into the field of Fine Arts.
I turned my focus to jewelry in 2006 and returned to college. I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Jewelry/Metals from Kent State University in 2010.
Always incorporating a reverence for the planet, I like to include recycled materials in my designs if possible. I am now known for utilizing 35mm film negatives and slides when creating my jewelry. .
My recent work is a new collection of nature-inspired jewelry. I incorporate photographic images of patterns found in nature on the surface of enameled copper forms. These pendants and earrings create a unique combination of color, texture and pattern. Some pieces include decorative elements of film sprockets which add another dimension to the jewelry.”
