All That You Can’t Leave Behind explores themes connected to childhood sayings and fairytales that influenced Washington’s upbringing. Her photography and collages delve into the complex layers of Black identity in America, reflecting on how these narratives shape personal and collective experiences. Washington’s work is a deeply personal and cathartic exploration of personal and collective Black experiences.
