Andrea Fekete
Andrea Fekete. Writer. Poet. Granddaughter to Mexican and Hungarian immigrant coal miners. Her MA thesis, Waters Run Wild, a novel of the WV coal mine wars describing women’s children’s, and immigrant life in coal camps, received acclaim from New Letters Magazine and American Book Review in 2010. (Sweetgum Press. 2010. Guestroom Press. 2018). Winner of Blue Earth Review Summer Dog Daze Prize in CNF. (2024) She co-curated Feminine Rising: Voices of Power and Invisibility (Cynren Press) Foreword Review Silver Winner for Indie Book of the Year in women’s studies. Her work appears in journals and anthologies such as Novus Literary Journal, Chiron Review, Borderlands: Texas Poetry Review, Kentucky Review, Montucky Review, Adirondack Review, ABZ, and books such as Eyes Glowing at the Edge of the Woods: Poetry and Fiction from West Virginia among many others. She earned her MA in English from Marshall University
and MFA in Creative Writing (fiction) from WV Wesleyan College. She has taught at multiple institutions including Marshall University, Ohio University Southern, Ashland CTC, and recently, Tri-C. She will appear at the Cleveland Heights Museum of Art for the Ekphrastic poetry night.
