Kathleen Cerveny

Kathleen Cerveny’s BFA/Ceramics is from the Cleveland Institute of Art, and her MFA/Poetry is from the University of Southern Maine.

She has exhibited her work locally and nationally, served as President of Ohio Designer Craftsmen, a founding member of The New Organization for the Visual Arts, and was Cleveland Public Radio’s first producer of arts programming.

She retired from the Cleveland Foundation after serving as Director of Arts Grantmaking for 23 years, where she initiated the structure that led to the creation of County-wide public support for the arts.

She is a recipient of the Robert Bergman Award from the Cleveland Arts Prize, and was a past Poet Laureate of Cleveland Heights.

Currently, she teaches arts management at Baldwin Wallace University. Her book, Sharp Tools: A Handbook for Nonprofit Arts Managers, was published in 2023.

She resides in Oberlin and infrequently posts on her blog.
