Most of my prints begin as captured environmental textures that I use to make block prints or as a “brush” of sorts. Sometimes I make multiple prints and assemble them into a collage. I often play iteratively with value, repetition, layers, and color until the piece feels right. I imagine that this is similar to the process of creating improvised music with a set of parameters. Even though I am an overthinker in daily life, my approach to making art is highly intuitive.
