Hollis Richardson

Hollis Richardson was born in a rural area of southeastern Oklahoma in 1933. He started drawing at a young age and earned a BA in art a master’s degree in art education from Southeastern State University in Durant, Oklahoma. He taught on the Navajo Reservation, in Europe with the military dependent schools, in northern California and central Idaho and worked as a mental health worker in Fresno, California and Denver, Colorado. These experiences have informed his artwork. He started working full time on his art in 1992. He has participated in over 150 juried shows in 15 states and won numerous awards nationwide. Now 90 years old, he still delights in the process of creating good design and composition. His imaginative, distinctive work is an expression of his appreciation of the human spirit and the elements of design and has been acquired by many discerning collectors nationwide.
