Barbara Verne

I am attorney and teacher by vocation. Printmaking and painting are my avocation. With art, nothing is predictable. There are happy and not so happy outcomes! We found our first rescued dog, Mack, in our yard one night. Mack became my muse. It was serendipitous. My dog pieces are all based on rescued dogs. Each rescued dog is extraordinary. They were never ordinary to begin with. My intention is not to create an exact likeness, rather to capture the essence of the dog or other animal. My nature series, home series, and abstract pieces are meant for you to use your imagination. Call forth the child within. Each piece is a handmade, original work of art. The methods I use are relief and intaglio. There are numerous forms of intaglio methods which I use. Etching, collagraph, chin colle, collage, and watercolor on a lithography plate. The watercolors speak for themselves. Enjoy the whimsy and use your imagination.
