Martha Young

Martha Young’s interest in fiber began when she learned at an early age to sew doll clothes and clothing. This interest continued with the discovery of quilt-making in the early seventies. Having graduated in painting from San Jose State University in California, quilt-making and fiber seemed to her to be an ideal medium. Working in fabric satisfies the need from painting to use color and imagery, provides an interesting format to work in that allows for periods of contemplation and a continuing satisfaction that grew out of that very positive early childhood experience.
A long-time Cleveland Heights resident, Martha has curated many fiber shows and exhibits her own work locally and internationally.
