2004–Lennox Road at Cedar, Cleveland Heights, OH
The mural was commissioned by Michael Occhionero, owner of the landmark building. The location was selected because the wide sidewalk in front of the wall is a place where people often sit.
But although there were benches and tables, the area felt like a place to pass through rather than a destination.
Cleveland Heights artist Jesse Rhinehart studied archival photos and history provided by the City of Cleveland Heights, and created a trompe l’oeil mural of a historical storefront. The painting,
created in his studio, depicts both the inside of stores from long ago as well as reflections in the storefront windows.
