CONCERT THREE: THE OMNI QUARTET, FROM FOUR TO MORE
Sunday, February 25, 2018 3:00 p.m.
Dunham Tavern Museum Barn, Cleveland
Johannes Brahms String Sextet No. 2 in G-major for two violins, two violas, and two celli (1865)
After a year off to be “M-Omnis” (seven children count among their creations now), the spectacular Omni Quartet returns in full force, and along with fellow Cleveland Orchestra musicians Dane Johansen and Isabel Trautwein, perform Brahms’ heart-wrenching G-major Sextet as the heart of the program. Written after his engagement ended to singer Agathe von Siebold, Brahms encrypted her musical initials throughout the piece, telling the story of love lost and sweetly remembered as only he can.
Amy Lee, Alicia Koelz, violins
Joanna Patterson, viola
Tanya Ell, cello
plus Isabel Trautwein, viola Dane Johansen, cello
