Hyperius Blake, Black Voltron
Formed in 2018 by Cleveland-based artist Hyperius Blake (Cleveland Arts Prize Verge Fellow 2025), Black Voltron brings together musicians from diverse backgrounds. They represent true community—the magic that happens when artists prioritize authenticity, understanding, and connection. Hyperius founded Black Voltron to share their compositions and arrangements with the world. Their work is built on the principle that music is more than just entertainment – it fosters spiritual and mental healing, and is a pillar of humanity.
Black Voltron has performed all over Northeast Ohio, including venues such as the Rock & Roll of Fame and the Bop Stop. Their members have experience in wedding bands, world music ensembles, church choirs, jazz combos and more. Blending classical training with forward-thinking sensibilities, Black Voltron crafts music that is both complex and familiar, groovy yet deeply intentional. This is music that touches hearts, challenges assumptions, and celebrates joy. This is high art. We are Black Voltron.
