Heights Arts presents Regional Perspectives, a celebration of North East Ohio’s vibrant artistic talent. On view from March 14 to May 11, 2025, this exhibition will highlight the region’s creative community and its emergence as a flourishing arts hub. Recent and ongoing conversations among our region’s artists, educational institutions, and arts organizations have made clear what an especially rich visual arts community Northeastern Ohio supports. In an area defined for this purpose as ranging from Youngstown down to Akron/Canton and west to Lorain county, our region not only enjoys the presence of nationally and internationally known institutions, but also a wealth of smaller visual arts venues, and thousands of artists who—inspired by working among other artists—are constantly producing new creative work. Many decades ago in the 20th century, a “Cleveland School” of artists was understood to thrive primarily around the Cleveland Institute of Art. With this new exhibition, and as an organization that has charged itself with supporting a vibrant arts community in our area, Heights Arts seeks to begin to answer a few questions: Is there an identifiable regional school today, beyond just Cleveland? What are its distinctive themes or attitudes or media? If you think your own work helps to answer those questions, we invite you to submit an entry to be part of this exciting exhibition, which Heights Arts presents as part of the celebration of its 25th anniversary. Selections will be made by the Heights Arts Exhibition Community team.

We invite artists in all visual media to submit work that captures the cultural, historical, or artistic essence of NorthEast Ohio. Submissions should reflect the spirit of the region through personal narratives and collective experiences, emphasizing its growth as a center for artistic expression and innovation.

All artists are responsible for transporting their artwork and must be available for the listed dates

Submission Deadline: January 2, 2025
Exhibition dates: March 14, 2025 – May 11, 2025
Artists will be notified of selection in February 2025

SUBMISSIONS DO NOT SAVE UNTIL SUBMITTED. Please be prepared to complete your submission at one time. You will need: Artist contact information, CV, Statement, Biography, up to 5 images of work with Title, Medium, Date (year), Dimensions (Length x Width x Height), and estimated sale price/value.

About our planning and review process:

• Heights Arts has adopted a hybrid rolling submission in addition to specific call for entries model. We encourage you to apply for a specific call for entries if one applies to your work for expedited response and placement time.
• Proposals are reviewed bi-monthly by our Exhibition Community Team.
