Robert Schumann’s life was shrouded by depression and mental illness with the exception of one brief happy period: for a single year following his hard-fought marriage to the brilliantly gifted Clara Wieck (yes, her father had sued against this marriage), he had an exuberant love-filled composing period, during which he swiftly wrote all his chamber music. This includes his wonderful and expressive String Quartet in A major. The Omni Quartet, all musicians in the Cleveland Orchestra, will delight us with this rarely-heard masterpiece in the perfect setting: a romantic carriage house hidden on Herrick Mews Lane in the heart of Cleveland Heights.
Performers:
Omni Quartet: Amy Lee, Alicia Koelz, Wesley Collins, Tanya Ell, (all members of the Cleveland Orchestra)
