Eileen Ryan Ewen is a visual artist using traditional mediums, and the illustrator of nine children’s books. In college at Miami University, Eileen studied Fine Art and received her BFA in Painting in 2000. After graduation she continued to develop her skills as a freelance artist in Chicago. In 2011 she earned her MFA in Creative Writing while living in St. Louis, MO. After having her four kids, she worked on developing her illustration style, revamped her portfolio, and started working on children’s books in 2013. In recent years, while still primarily focusing on book illustration, Eileen is also expanding her freelance art once again, utilizing watercolor as well as acrylic and oil paints, to help express her love of time, place, and storytelling. Having grown up in Cleveland Heights, Eileen once again calls the Heights home. She’s currently working on three new picture books, as well as evolving and expanding her own art.
