Karen Koch

I am Karen Koch, a mixed media artist with a studio in Hudson, Ohio.
I have been a writer, painter, and gallery owner who finally discovered collage about a decade ago. What an eye-opening discovery!
Collage allows me to use anything – not only regular art supplies but also sentimental items and everyday objects – to make art. I love being able to take items that have served their intended purpose and give them a “second career” as artwork.
Objects such as maps evoke the excitement of road trips; book pages recall epic tales; thread and buttons are a sentimental nod to evenings spent sewing with my Mom. Those items, along with paint, paper, canvas, are my favorite tools.
The resulting artwork, I hope, evokes peace, sparks fond memories, and lets you you look at familiar things in a new light.
