Carmen Romine grew up in Medina, Ohio and moved to Cleveland after graduating in 2010 from the Cleveland Institute of Art. Romine earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Fiber and Material Studies and a minor focus in Drawing. Growing up near the country, she finds inspiration from her early memories of rural surroundings and continues her practice focused on concepts of sustainability in a changing environment. Carmen creates abstract landscapes, botanical prints, and handmade books using a variety of process-driven methods developed by fiber art techniques. Her work has been selected for nationally recognized exhibitions including “Paper Routes: Women to Watch” held at the Ohio Arts Council’s Riffe Gallery and in partnership with the National Museum of Women in the Arts. Her work has been collected by various hospitality-type businesses and residential clients throughout Northeast Ohio. Romine currently resides in Cleveland Heights, Ohio where she works out of her studio making artwork, building frames, and eco-printing with wildflowers for her craft business known as, “Tree Fibers.”
