ABOUT THE ARTIST

Maggy Brown studied art direction and film at the prestigious Los Angeles Art Center College of Design. After a whirlwind career in film and fashion in Paris, France and Milan, Italy she returned to the States to continue her creative life in the quiet, historical village of Chagrin Falls. She creates her beautiful and whimsical art in a lovely century home in the village with her closest companions, her Jack Russell Terrier, Betty, and 20-year old cat, Uncle Buzz.

MAGGY ON PET PROJECT

“I was late to the party on pet ownership. I was too busy traveling the world producing television commercials, while living in Italy, to care for a pet. I returned to the States and a colleague gave me a Jack Russell Terrier when his Jack had one more puppy than was anticipated. I named him Lawrence. That dog became my world. I began collaging dogs when I was illustrating and writing the first book of the “Lawrence the Wonder Dog”™ series last year. I plan to make as many picture books as there are adventures Lawrence shared with me—all have a parallel message for children. I have come to believe pets rescue us as much we rescue them.”

Maggy’s cut paper collage portraits are available in one size: 12″ x 18.” Each commissioned portrait takes about six to eight weeks to complete, and is completely original, based on the photograph that you provide. Artist signed.
