Spotlight: Brenda Fuchs Opening Reception

Spotlight Gallery Brenda Fuchs September 2015Friday, September 4, 2015 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm

A new spotlight gallery, with seven abstract and figurative paintings by noted Cleveland artist and former Murray Hill gallery owner Brenda Fuchs (1939-2011), will be unveiled as part of Heights Arts’ inaugural installation. The exhibition gallery is also being renamed in honor of the Jean, Harry and Brenda Fuchs Family Foundation, whose transformative gift and dedication to the arts in Cleveland Heights funded the gallery improvements.

A 1962 graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art and lifelong artist, Brenda was seldom without a pencil, pastel or paintbrush in her hand. She may have been the first local artist to work with patients in the VA Hospital, decades before art therapy became a recognized form of treatment. Brenda was a frequent participant in the popular, regional May Show at the Cleveland Museum of Art, and also exhibited in New York City.
