SPOTLIGHT: Cathie Bleck Opening Reception

Friday, March 18 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm

Cathie Bleck, an internationally respected artist (and Cleveland resident) is well known for her distinctive works in scratchboard and kaolin clay board.  Her stylized, organic forms–rooted in themes of evolution, transformation, and fragility–are cut through inks and handmade pigments, revealing the white of the kaolin clay beneath. It is a process similar in concept to woodblock printing.

This new exhibition will reveal the captivating progression of Cathie’s technique in various media including scratchboard, clayboard, clay on papyrus and limited edition prints.

Join us for an opening reception and opportunity to meet the artist on Friday, March 18. Works will be on view and on sale in the Heights Arts spotlight gallery through Saturday, April 30.

Shown: Visiting artist Cathie Bleck talks about her experience working as an artist-in-residence in the Printmaking Department at the Cleveland Institute of Art, 2014.
