Julianne Edberg expresses, “Graphic designer learns bookbinding and can’t stop!” Edberg is attracted to the peculiar, the geometric, the humorous, and words. For her, the juxtaposition of two wrong things can lead to perfect meaning. In making her one-of-a-kind handmade books, she utilizes the computer for help with patterns and the internet for inspiration.
Edberg holds a BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art and for thirty-one years was employed as a graphic designer at Cuyahoga Community College. She has studied bookbinding with Barbara Mauriello and a “secret drawers” workshop with Randi Parkhurst at Penland School of Crafts.
