Sue is a self-proclaimed “obsessive paper collector” who loves the variety of textures, colors, prints and designs of paper from around the world, along with all the possibilities papers present. She begins each piece by constructing boxes out of book board and covering them with handmade and fine papers (“cartonnage”), mixing paper patterns, and then finishing the boxes with new and vintage buttons, beads and other small treasures.

“I’ve made boxes for all occasions from new baby keepsake boxes to holiday gift boxes to decorative whatever boxes,” states Sue. She enjoys exploring and imagining new box shapes and designs that are inspired by the papers that make each piece distinctive and unique.
