Enriching Cultural Lives – The Amalfi Coast & Tuscany

Cypresses on a winding road in Tuscany

The Heights Arts mission is 1) to foster and promote the work of local visual, musical, and poetic artists and 2) to integrate their work into the life fabric of the wider community. We show and sell artworks by regional artists, present chamber music and community concerts in intimate settings and public spaces, and are home to the Cleveland Heights Poet Laureate and our popular literary Ekphrastacy program.

In accordance with our mission of enriching the creative lives of Heights Arts members, we are collaborating with the Cleveland Heights based Italy Adagio travel agency in offering a fabulous tour of the Amalfi Coast & Tuscany (with optional Florence add-on) in April 2024.

The Amalfi Coast offers breathtaking vistas, architectural wonders, magnificent pottery, and, of course, limoncello! And ancient Pompeii is just a stone’s throw from here. The Amalfi Coast has been a haven and source of inspiration for artistic geniuses since at least as far back as the Middle Ages and up to modern times – from Boccaccio in the 14th century, to Masaccio in the 15th, Caravaggio in the 17th, and right up to the 19th and 20th centuries with Richard Wagner, Greta Garbo, Truman Capote, and Gore Vidal.

Tuscany’s towns present a moving portrayal of the Middle Ages and its powerful artistic heritage. The beautifully preserved medieval hill towns of San Gimignano, Pisa, and Siena will create lasting impressions of that world that gave rise to the Italian Renaissance.

Our optional add-on of Florence is of course the home of Michelangelo’s David and of the Uffizi Gallery, with masterpieces by Giotto, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, and many others artistic geniuses. But you’ll also enjoy other extraordinary experiences – an exclusive visit to the medieval-Renaissance palazzo home of a distinguished classical pianist for a performance and hors d’oeuvres plus a once-in-a-lifetime visit to the princely Palazzo Corsini al Prato, where a family member will guide us through the gardens and host us inside the palace.

This is literally a once-in-a-lifetime tour that furthers the culture enhancing goals of Heights Arts. Don’t miss out. Sign up now!by reaching out to Dan Lesnick!
