Many of us have found ourselves spending more time outdoors since the start of the pandemic. We notice an instant mood boost when the sun is out and the fresh air rushes through our lungs. Heights Arts latest Spotlight Showcase as part of our 2021 Group Show reflects exactly this.
Poets Kisha Foster, Ray McNiece, Josiah Quarles, and Michelle R. Smith present poems they wrote in response to work in our current exhibition “Posing the Question.”
Heights Arts presents regular group exhibitions curated by our Exhibition Community Team from submissions by local artists through our website. In this exhibition, Julie Friedman, Paula Izydorek, Mark Keffer, Alessandro Ravagnan, and Dante Rodriguez present works in painting, sculpture, and mixed media.
Our first spotlight exhibition of the new year features Helen Liggett. Helen Liggett is an academic and photographer who teaches in the Architectural Studies Program at Kent State University. She is the author of numerous articles and professional presentations, often incorporating urban photography.
The topics of racial equality and a fight for justice have been at the forefront of headlines when we look back at 2020. The issues have forced many of us to decide where we stand, and whether we choose to stand in unity, agree to disagree, or just disagree. The latest Heights Arts exhibition Posing the Question showcases these topics and how our nation is responding to them.
Heights Arts, the multi-disciplinary community arts organization based in Cleveland Heights, is partnering with University Hospitals (UH) to showcase Heights-area visual artists as part of its 20th-anniversary celebration of connecting the arts with community.
