at the Cedar Fairmount Summer Arts Festival in Cleveland Heights

Join ceramic artist (and our August Artist Member of the Month) Mark Yasenchack in creating a community mosaic mural at Cedar Fairmount’s Summer Festival on August 9 in Cleveland Heights! Starting with clay, glass and stone tiles, you will create an image using the ancient technique of mosaic craft. The mosaics of Pompeii are an excellent early example of this community mosaics, while the Mosaic Gardens in Philadelphia by Isaiah Zagar represent the Modern mosaic style.

Although some mosaics use specifically formed pieces, it is often a loose assemblage of found elements very similar to collage. We’ll use Mark’s supplied clay, glass and stone tiles —plus your creativity!
