Call for Random Acts of Art!

Random Acts of Art is an open call for artists, musicians / composers, poets and community members to share work as part of a Heights Arts digital exhibition during the COVID-19 pandemic. Any artist, musician or poet who resides in Cuyahoga County is encouraged to submit work to the project.

The Heights Arts Random Acts of Art initiative is an opportunity to showcase the work of artists, musicians, and poets in Cuyahoga County. Using social media and our website, Heights Arts will present the submitted work in digital format beginning in April 2020. We will share both our Heights Arts programming and also accept and host artists’ digital images and videos or at-home or at-studio visits, and will consider any relevant type of work that can be shared through our channels.

The goal of this project is to continue Heights Arts mission to celebrate our region’s literary, musical, and visual artists, and share their contributions with the community, despite the current restrictions on public gatherings. Because our capacity is limited during this time, we cannot guarantee that all submissions will be showcased, but will do our best to continue promoting artists and their work to the best of our ability. Initial preference will be with artists, musicians and poets who have already worked with us or who have been contracted to do programming which has been postponed or canceled due to the pandemic.

For visual artists

Your work will be shown as a blog post on our website and will be shared via social media outlets – just submit high-quality photos or files of up to three (3) works. Please be prepared to include an artist statement (written and about your work and a video explaining your process and how your work was created.

For musicians and poets

Music performances (of any genre) and poetry can be shared on our website and social media. You will be asked to submit two performances for review by our Music Community Team.

If you’d like to submit a pre-produced video of a performance, please send up to three (3) videos as youtube or vimeo links. Videos should not exceed 10 minutes.

Please note: If you are submitting a pre-produced video (in other words, it was not created specifically for Random Acts of Art), then you will need to include a short video or written statement including the information listed below in our “Videos Should Include” section.
