July Visual Artist of the Month – Joan Neubecker

I hold a B.F.A from The Cleveland Institute of Art from 1985. I worked at The Cleveland Museum of Art in the Conservation Department as a Conservation Photographer and Technician for the Photo Collection. I recently showed at the Cleveland Print Room Members exhibit and I was published on the NPR’s Culture Desk section with a short write up one of my photos of my cat – “Hidden Mother”. I have been in several Cleveland Museum of Art May Shows and various gallery group shows every year. I was awarded an Individual Ohio Arts Council Grant 1986/87 and have received numerous awards over the years.

I find much of my inspiration from my garden, my two cats and from working at The Cleveland Museum of Art. My work is often staged, sometimes conceptual or whimsical, and sometimes just based on colors and composition. I enjoy creating my images in Photoshop.
