Open Call for 2023 Holiday Store Artists
A curated show of works by more than 100 artists and artisans, the Holiday Store fills the entire Heights Arts gallery on Lee Road with fine art prints, paintings, and photographs; functional art in ceramics, glass, wood, and fiber; plus jewelry, clothing, music, handmade artist cards, books, and distinctive holiday items.
We are especially interested in the following items:
- Masculine Jewelry.
- High-end gold jewelry (over $250).
- Low-end (under $50) or unique material jewelry.
- Housewares and functional pieces such as serving bowls, utensils, table décor, glasses, cups, and small furniture.
- Handmade textiles such as clothing, accessories, blankets, and décor.
- Items for children.
- Non-Christmas holiday items (Hanukkah, Rohatsu, Advent, Solstice, Kwanzaa).
- Ornaments.
- Books such as those in the genres of poetry, fiction and non-fiction, illustrations, and photography.
- Candles, soaps, and care products.
Important dates:
- Submissions accepted until July 28, 2023
- Invitations sent by August 5, 2023
- Inventory drop-off: September 29, 2023 through October 18, 2023
- Members and artists preview: Thursday, November 2, 2023 (Regular gallery hours)
- Public opening reception: Friday, November 3, 2023 (5-8 p.m.)
- Unsold inventory pick-up: January 5–January 20, 2023
Requirements: If you are not currently a working-artist member, you must agree to work one two-hour volunteer shift some time between the months of October and January, 2023. Artists must currently be based in Northeast Ohio.
Compensation: Artists receive 60% of commission on works sold in the art and gift store, with 40% going to our non-profit organization.
In Order to Apply You’ll Need the Following:
- Artist Statement
- Artist Resume/CV
- One to five images of artist’s work
- Category of submission
