Random Acts of Art LIVE: Summer 2020 Recap

Tags: ,

Have you heard the sweet sounds of the bowed violin or the woody-tenor of a bassoon trio resonating through your kitchen window this past summer?  If so, you may have caught the musical offerings from a Random Acts of Art Live (RAAL) lawn concert, Heights Arts’ answer to continuing the mission of bringing live music to the community during the pandemic.

Starting this past June, local professional performing artists furloughed because of Covid-19 applied for the series through our online portal.  We are so pleased to announce that we successfully featured almost 90% of the musicians who reached out for our performing opportunities.

Eight performances and 17 musicians played in community spaces like front lawns and church lots.  Highlights include Larchmere Collective’s marimba and cello duo (sponsored by Cleveland’s Common Ground conversations), a violin and cello duo hosted by Councilwoman Davida Russell, The Russian Duo, and Cleveland Institute of Music’s virtuosic bassoon trio.  Social distancing rules in place, these concerts felt intimate and communal, while at the same time keeping concertgoers safely distanced to protect the collective health.

A huge THANK YOU to the community members who hosted and sponsored these events. From our neighbors on Bradford St, Washington Blvd, Northcliffe Rd, and so many others:  we could not have done this without you!

Interested in hosting or supporting this program?  Please visit https://www.heightsarts.org/random-acts-of-art/  or email music@heightsarts.org for more information.  Heights Arts intends to run the program in the upcoming spring as well.  Let’s make our Spring 2021 RAAL season even more eventful than the fall!
