Artist of the Month April 2021 – Visual: Jerry Wang

For the month of April 2021, our visual Artist of the Month is Jerry Wang.

Guangsheng (Jerry) Wang, is a native of Tianjin, China. He has taught Chinese traditional instrument, Erhu at the Tianjin Conservatory of Music for over 25 years. Painting has always been his second passion. His art works have been published in the Tianjin Daily Newspaper and the Tianjin People’s Fine Arts Publishing House Magazine.

Shortly after moving to the Cleveland area with his wife, he developed a wide audience in the Greater Cleveland area. Mr. Wang has been invited to present art demonstration classes in Cleveland Institute of Art, Cleveland State University, the John Carroll University, the Hudson Public Library and the Montessori High School. He has participated in numerous art festivals such as the Lakewood Arts Festival, 78th Street Studio, the Rocky River Art Show, Shaker Square Art Fest and the Hessler Street Fair. In 2012, Mr. Wang was awarded 1st winner at the Tremont Art Festival.

When he is not painting himself, Mr. Wang is also a dedicated art teacher. He loves to teach the history and the technique of Chinese traditional watercolor, the age of his students range from elementary school students to adults. Mr. Wang currently resides in Lakewood nearby his daughter, Dr. Shuai Wang whom is a concert pianist and a piano faculty member at the Cleveland Institute of Music. Guangsheng Wang is very grateful for his opportunity in America. He hopes to display more about his passion in Chinese traditional art forms to many more people here in Ohio and elsewhere.
