Forest of Mud by Kasey Kania

Join Heights Arts at 5 p.m. Friday, June 14th for the opening reception of Emergent 2024 by RSVPing here. First presented in 2015, Emergent celebrates the strength of the northeast Ohio region as a training ground for the great artists of tomorrow. 

Emerging artists include painter Jules Ahern who uses found objects to reckon with home memories, oil painter Erjon Hajnaj who invokes dramatic tones with Renaissance painting styles, mixed-media artist Kasey Kania whose work is centered on the natural world, Sylvia Munodawafa who draws inspiration from the rich cultural heritage of Zimbabwe to explore identity and spirituality through her paintings and sculptures, self-taught oil painter Grace Nestor-Louie who creates playful scenes of nature in vivid colors, visual artist DeAnne Smith who explores mico-patterns with acrylic paintings, and painter Mar’Cess Stubbs who explores family histories and identity through traditional techniques and the human figure.

The exhibition will remain on view until August 11.
